Discover the coastline of the Arrábida Natural Park on a 4-hour guided kayak experience on the water, with round-trip transportation between Lisbon and Sesimbra included.

This is a small-group experience with a maximum of 5 double kayaks per guide. Transportation departs from Lisbon and takes you to Sesimbra Harbour, where the kayak experience begins.

After a short safety briefing and an introduction to basic paddling techniques, we launch our kayaks from Sesimbra Harbour and paddle along the Arrábida coastline towards Ribeiro do Cavalo Beach.

Along the way, we pass limestone cliffs, small caves, rock passages and sheltered coves. Our local guides share their knowledge of the region, including its geology, nature, history, culture, local stories and legends.

The journey to Ribeiro do Cavalo normally takes around 1.5 hours by kayak. At the beach, we stop to relax, swim and enjoy the scenery before paddling back to Sesimbra Harbour.

After the kayak tour, you will have time to change before the return transfer to Lisbon.

The same kayak experience as our Sesimbra option

The Lisbon option includes the same 4-hour on-water kayak experience as our tour with a direct meeting point in Sesimbra.

The only difference is how you get to the starting point:

Lisbon → transfer to Sesimbra → 4-hour kayak tour → Sesimbra → transfer back to Lisbon

Meeting point in Lisbon

The meeting point is at the main entrance of Time Out Market / Mercado da Ribeira in Lisbon.

Please arrive approximately 10 minutes before the meeting time shown on your booking. As this is a small-group experience, punctuality is important so that we can depart on time.

Before you book

• You must be able to swim and feel comfortable in open water.
• No previous kayaking experience is required.
• Our guides provide a full safety briefing and accompany the group throughout the experience.
• Minimum age: 8 years old.
• Recommended maximum weight: 110 kg, due to equipment limitations.
• Not recommended for pregnant travellers or people with heart, back or mobility problems.
• Not wheelchair or stroller accessible.
• Pets are not allowed.

Duration

The kayak experience lasts 4 hours on the water. Including round-trip transportation between Lisbon and Sesimbra, the complete experience takes approximately 6.5 hours, depending on traffic and the day's operating conditions.

Our kayaks are sit-on-top kayaks, so getting wet during the activity is normal. We recommend not bringing electronic devices unless they are waterproof.
